Living room: no cables under rugs, no candles unattended, smoke detector tested this month.

Garage and workshop: fuels stored in sealed containers, battery charging on a hard surface, blanket on the wall by the door.

Bedrooms: a working detector outside every sleeping area, escape route agreed with everyone at home.

Vehicle: blanket in the trunk, jumper cables stored where you can reach them without leaning over the engine bay.
